Our client is a leading FMCG distributor seeking an experienced Transport professional for an on a 4 on, 4 off permanent night basis (1800hrs–0600hrs) at their site in Coalville, Leicestershire.

Salary: £35k + Excellent Benefits

Location: Leicestershire

Reporting to the Transport Manager, you will be responsible for executing transport plans, ensuring transport and network SLAs/KPIs are achieved, developing and building efficient routes, maximising vehicle capacity, and complying with Transport Legislation, Health & Safety, and customer service requirements. You will ensure customers\’ products are delivered on time and in full using the most cost‑effective means possible, and best use of available resources including maximising utilisation of drivers in line with current driver hours and WTD legislation.

Key Accountabilities as Transport Supervisor

• Ensure Site Planners plan all relevant customer deliveries utilizing the software available at the site to meet delivery windows.
• Liaise with customers as required regarding delays and potential delivery issues.
• Develop back‑haul lanes with depots and 3rd‑party customers while maintaining fleet utilisation.
• Coordinate a late load report in line with operational requirements and deadlines.
• Ensure drivers comply with the Working Time Directive.
• Ensure drivers regularly download Driver cards for analysis.
• Ensure site planners comply with all transport legislation, reducing tachograph infringements below company targets and adhering to WTD regulations.
• Maintain awareness of any delays and potential delivery issues by liaising with site planners.
• Source local agency drivers as and when required (in conjunction with PSL), providing accurate job brief.
• Source local sub‑contractors as and when required.
• Manage site planners to use the most efficient start times.
• Ensure adequate pre‑briefing of drivers by Transport Supervisors so they fully understand their instructions.
• Ensure adequate de‑briefing of drivers upon return so all documentation is completed correctly.
• Ensure compliance with Agency Driver checklist.
• Fully understand and communicate agreed KPIs for the department.
• Perform all other transport office related duties.

The Ideal Person for the Transport Supervisor Role

• People management experience.
• Customer service experience.
• Experience working in a busy transport office.
• Knowledge of drivers\’ hours, tachograph and WTD legislation.
• Knowledge of continuous improvement.
• Good standard of education.
• IT literate.
• Knowledge of health & safety.
• Commercial understanding.
• Knowledge of transport systems.
