Our client is a leading FMCG Distributor, and we are delighted to assist them in their search for an experienced Transport professional as they look to recruit a Transport Manager at their site in West Sussex.

Reporting into the General Manager and with four directs, you will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the busy Transport operation, with a fleet size of approximately 50 units and 50 Drivers. The site operates on a multi-drop basis.

Key Accountabilities as Transport Manager

• The leadership and management of all aspects of the Depot Transport operation to ensure deliveries are made On Time, In Full (OTIF).
• Control all department costs within agreed budgets, and/or adjust based on volume, W.T.D. hours, or customer requirements.
• Manage and produce Operational KPIs related to the Transport department.
• Proactively drive the transport department forward by strategic planning, utilizing market experience and developments in transport technology.
• Influence operational practices to improve areas such as fuel costs, maintenance spend, and agency costs.
• Ensure the transport department complies with practices in line with the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency.

The Ideal Person for the Transport Manager Role

• Significant transport experience within a multi-drop, FMCG environment.
• Possess a CPC Qualification.
• Established management experience at a senior level.
• Strong leadership and people management skills.
• Ability to work under pressure, multi-task, and prioritize workloads successfully.
