We are thrilled to announce a major contract win with Southern Water! We are recruiting a Mobile Fitter Engineer (Mobile Mechanic / HGV Field Service Engineer) to cover the entire Southern Water area. About The Role
- Vehicle Maintenance: Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of the company’s fleet of vehicles, with a particular emphasis on hydraulic components. Diagnose and troubleshoot hydraulic and high-pressure jetting system issues to ensure timely and effective repairs. Perform preventive maintenance tasks on hydraulic systems to maximise reliability.
- Repair and Troubleshooting: Respond promptly to breakdowns and emergencies involving hydraulic and jetting systems, providing on-site repairs to minimise downtime. Utilise diagnostic tools and equipment to identify and rectify technical issues related to high-pressure equipment. Collaborate with the wider team to analyse recurring problems and implement preventive measures.
- Legislation and Compliance: Stay up-to-date with relevant legislation and industry standards related to hydraulic systems and high-pressure jetting operations. Ensure all maintenance and repair activities comply with health and safety regulations, environmental standards and industry best practices. Implement and promote safe working practices among the team in accordance with legal requirements.
About You
The ideal candidate will be hard-working, respectful and compliant with health and safety standards.
Requirements:
- Strong background in commercial HGV vehicle servicing.
- Class B driving licence and fully recognised industry qualifications (City & Guilds or equivalent).
- Class C+E / HGV Class 2 driving licence.
- IOSH or NEBOSH qualifications are useful.
- Previous water industry experience is preferred and hydraulics experience is desirable.
Location: Based out of the Millbrook depot (Southampton, Hampshire) but travelling across all of the Southern Water area which covers Kent, Sussex and the Isle of Wight.
Job type: Permanent, full-time.
Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours.
Salary: up to £55,000 per annum (basic pay, overtime, on call allowance and bonuses).
Benefits: 21 days holiday (plus bank holidays), birthday off, health cash plan, onsite parking, auto-enrolment pension scheme, enhanced maternity and paternity, retention loyalty scheme based on length of service, friendly working environment; company van and fuel card provided.
