HGV Class 2 Drainage Engineer (Nights)

We operate 24/7 and you are required to work flexible hours, weekends and participate in an on-call rota. Full training, PPE and use of company equipment will be provided to ensure that all our drainage engineers have the right tools, competency, and confidence to undertake the work to Lanes’ high standard of operation regardless of background or previous experience.
Position: HGV Class 2 Drainage Engineer – Nights
Location: Beckton Depot, North London Region (Ilford, East London)
Job Type: Permanent, full-time
Hours: Monday to Friday nights, 40 hours
Salary: OTE £50,000 per annum (basic pay, overtime, on-call allowance and bonuses)

About The Role
Due to continued growth and development, we are looking for customer-focused people to join our Utility Division, working on our Thames Water contract service to deliver effective solutions to wastewater network and drainage problems.
Responsibilities
- Travel to residential sites via a HGV in a two-person team, operating a high-pressure water jet for restoration
- Clean, clear and maintain drainage systems
- Record each job correctly on the specialist equipment provided
- Run diagnostics and repairs on drains
- Deliver good customer service
- Maintain health and safety practices while carrying out works
- Ensure vehicle stock is full and replenished
- Comply with health and safety responsibilities (PPE, safe site setups)
- Utilise VISTEC and Salesforce platforms
- Operate JHL specification vacuum tankers and related equipment
- Access vehicle cabs, sites and offices safely (three points of contact)
- Handle flexible pipework safely using correct manual techniques
- Work unsupervised in all weather conditions with appropriate PPE or lone worker system
- Risk assess site access and working conditions on arrival
- Liaise with the client regarding process and updates
- Provide support to colleagues
- Inspect tools, equipment and plant before and after use; report defects
- Carry out risk assessments; uphold Lanes Group policies
- Perform any other reasonable tasks or duties as requested by management
Full training is provided.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum of HGV Class 2 licence
- Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC)
- Up-to-date Digi-Tacho Card
- Experience with High Pressure Jetting equipment is useful but not essential
- Other drainage qualifications (e.g., NRSWA and Confined Spaces) are advantageous
