About the role
As a Traffic Management Operative, you will work on our planned Traffic Management Schemes helping them to run smoothly and efficiently to achieve maximum production in a working day, whilst maintaining a high Health and Safety standard. The works are a mixture of reactive and planned works. You will be required to work on the North West based site, located in Preston or Manchester, and travel to the depot in Walton Summit. A loyalty bonus will be paid upon completion of a 3‑month probation and then after 6 months and 12 months working with the company. You will also be required to go on a standby rota and be flexible to the business needs in working nights and weekends. This is a full‑time, permanent position within a growing, and busy department.
Location: North West based – depot in Walton Summit, Preston.
Hours: 50 hours per week
Salary: £35,000 per annum basic with OTE earnings of up to £50,000 based on overtime.
Responsibilities – But Not Limited To
- You will oversee all methods of traffic management; Give and take, Priority, Stop/Go boards, Portable traffic signals, Convoy working, Road closures, Lane closures and diversions.
- You will carry out risk assessments and method statements on works involving traffic management.
- You will ensure that all activities associated with the job are carried out according to laid down procedures where possible.
- You will ensure that daily vehicle checks are carried out to ensure cleanliness and tidiness of vehicle and the safety of the driver and passenger.
- You will demonstrate initiative by constantly looking to see where improvements can be made.
- You will be happy to assist the public, directing them through safe site lines when required.
Experience and Qualifications
- Lantra 12d accreditation; TTMBC; 12d (M1, M2, M5, M6) Lantra 12a/b accreditation.
- Full valid UK driving licence with no more than 6 points.
- Be able to read and understand CAD drawings, in relation to the works required preferably to have mechanical ability in relation to Traffic Lights.
- Be IT literate as usage of a tablet will be needed to input data.
