Purpose of the role: As a Procurement and Supply Apprentice, you'll learn how to help a business buy the products, equipment, and services it needs to operate successfully. From ordering materials and working with suppliers to comparing prices and tracking deliveries, you'll play an important role in making sure teams have what they need, when they need it. You'll gain hands-on experience working with colleagues across the business and learn how purchasing decisions can help save money, improve quality, and support sustainability goals. Apprenticeship Information
- Level 3 Procurement and Supply Assistant Apprenticeship
- Duration: Approximately 18 Months + EPA
- Hours: 37.5 per week
- Hourly rate: £10.60
- Qualification delivered through an approved training provider
- Dedicated study time provided as part of your working week
- Ongoing support from your manager, mentor, and training provider
Key Responsibilities:
- Purchase Order Processing: Raising, chasing, and issuing purchase orders (POs) and ensuring requisitions have the correct financial approvals.
- Quotation & Tendering: Assisting Buyers by collating quotes, drafting tender documents, and evaluating supplier responses.
- Supplier Sourcing: Helping identify new suppliers through market research to ensure the business gets the best value for money.
- Database Maintenance: Keeping the supplier database and product catalogues accurate, up-to-date, and fully compliant.
- Spend Analysis: Analysing financial and procurement data to track spend profiles, stock usage, and identify cost-saving trends.
- Negotiation: Supporting senior team members in negotiating price, delivery times, and contract conditions.
- Compliance: Ensuring all purchases adhere to corporate policies, internal standing financial instructions, and procurement regulations.
- Ensure your own continuous professional development by participating in external networking/conferences/associations/groups, to stay current on industry changes and innovations.
- Maintain a positive and solution-oriented approach to work, providing open and honest feedback.
- In all internal and external contact, present a professional and positive image of the department and Lanes Group as well as maintaining mutually constructive, positive and beneficial relationships.
- Handle information confidentially and responsibly.
- Complete all required apprenticeship training and assignments.
- Apply learning in the workplace to build skills and knowledge.
- Participate in regular progress reviews with manager and training provider.
- Apprenticeship Work: Dedicating a portion of the working week (off-the-job training) to complete assignments, attend workshops, and build a professional portfolio.
Qualifications & Training:
- Maths and English at Grade 4 or above (or equivalent of Grade C-A*) or Functional Skills Level 2.
- ICT literate in all Office applications.
