About the Role
We are seeking a Waste Water Operative to join our team working on our United Utilities contract based in Bamber Bridge, Preston, covering their North West network. This role joins our Hybrids work stream.
Location: Leyland
Salary: £38,800 per annum including a shift uplift
Hours: 50 hours per week with paid breaks. Shifts over 7 days on an 18‑week shift rota (weekend work required). Typically working 9 am‑7 pm.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with a Wastewater Operative to clean, camera and carry out sewer investigations as directed by United Utilities.
- Attend to customers, inform them of works to be carried out and answer any concerns such as timelines.
- Inspect drainage systems to identify blockages, leaks, or damage that could hinder water flow.
- Assist with all aspects of high‑pressure water jetting and operate high‑pressure water jetting equipment to clean and clear blockages in drains, sewers, pipes, and other wastewater systems.
- Assist with CCTV inspections where required to assess the condition of underground pipes and sewers.
- Use an electronic device (laptop / tablet) for data entry purposes.
- Ensure safety issues are reported in line with company procedures.
- Perform routine maintenance and servicing of high‑pressure water jetting equipment to ensure it is in proper working order.
Qualities Desirable for the Role
- Driver’s licence is mandatory.
- Experience desirable but full training will be offered for those starting a career within utilities.
- Excellent listening and communication skills.
- Competent in IT and accurate data entry.
- Team player with a positive, can‑do attitude.
- Ability to work in all weathers and cover ground on foot.
