In this critical role, you will ensure our organisation is known for being the best in everything we do, leaving a legacy of absolute quality and compliance, and keeping our promises at all times. We operate 24/7, and as such, you are required to work flexible hours, weekends, and participate in an on-call rota. Full training, PPE, and use of company equipment will be provided to ensure that all our drainage engineers have the right tools, competency, and confidence to undertake the work to Lanes’ high standard of operation regardless of background or previous experience.
Position: Health and Safety Advisor
Location: based out of Kidlington Depot, Oxfordshire; travelling around our network visiting numerous sites per day (including Oxfordshire and Wiltshire)
Job Type: permanent, full-time
Hours: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours (start times to be discussed at interview)
Salary: up to £35,000 per annum, depending upon experience.

Responsibilities:
- Carry out risk assessments and identify how risks could be reduced.
- Outline safe operational procedures which identify and take into account all relevant hazards.
- Carry out regular site inspections to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented.
- Ensure working practices are safe and comply with legislation.
- Prepare health and safety strategies and develop internal policy.
- Lead in-house training with managers and employees about health and safety issues and risks.
- Deliver induction training for new starters.
- Record findings from inspections to produce reports that suggest improvements.
- Record incidents and accidents to produce statistics for managers.
- Keep up to date with new legislation and maintain a working knowledge of all Health and Safety Executive (HSE) legislation and any developments that affect the employer's industry.
- Attend Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) seminars and read professional journals.
- Produce management reports, newsletters and bulletins.
- Ensure equipment is installed safely.
- Manage and organise the safe disposal of hazardous substances, e.g. asbestos.
- Advise on a range of specialist areas, e.g. fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, safeguarding machinery and occupational diseases.
- Be aware of all Lanes Group policies and your responsibilities towards them.
- Any other reasonable ad-hoc tasks, duties or projects as requested by H&S Manager, Head of Health and Safety or a member of Senior Leadership Team.
