The Lanes Group are the UK's largest independent provider of water and wastewater solutions and services, playing a vital role in maintaining the seamless operations of the nation's water systems. We are seeking a HGV Operative to join our busy Eastleigh Depot.
About The Role
- Location: Eastleigh
- Hours: Monday to Friday 40 hours per week
- Rate of pay: £15.50-£16.00 per hour
Role And Responsibilities
- Attending to customers, informing them of works due to be carried out and answering any concerns.
- Inspect drainage systems to identify blockages, leaks, or damage that could hinder water flow.
- Reporting all findings/data to the appropriate teams.
- Assisting with all aspects of high pressure water jetting.
- Operate high-pressure water jetting equipment to clean and clear blockages in drains, sewers, pipes, and other wastewater systems.
- Adjust pressure levels based on the condition of the system and the nature of the blockage (e.g., grease, debris, or tree roots).
- Use the equipment to remove waste materials and prevent build-up in drains and sewer lines.
- Competent in using an electronic device - laptop/tablet for data entry purposes.
- Ensuring safety issues are reported in line with company procedures.
- Perform routine maintenance and servicing of high-pressure water jetting equipment to ensure it is in proper working order.
- Assist with CCTV inspections where required to assess the condition of underground pipes and sewers.
Experience And Qualifications Required For The Role
- You’ll need a UK driving licence with no more than 3 penalty points and a Class 2 HGV CPC is desirable.
- You will hold an up to date CSCS card (desirable).
- You’ll already be familiar with high pressure jetting equipment, but you may not have drainage experience. That’s OK — we’re happy to train you to the appropriate standard.
- A high pressure water jetting certificate would be good, but it’s not essential.
- You’ll be polite and respectful when dealing with customers and the public, and observe all health and safety procedures.
- Being flexible is essential too: we operate 24/7 so there will be early starts, weekend working and an out-of-hours call-out rota.
