In this critical role, you will ensure our organisation is known for being the best in everything we do, leaving a legacy of absolute quality and compliance, and keeping our promises at all times. We operate 24/7, and as such, you are required to work flexible hours, weekends, and participate in an on-call rota. Full training, PPE, and use of company equipment will be provided to ensure that all our drainage engineers have the right tools, competency, and confidence to undertake the work to Lanes’ high standard of operation regardless of background or previous experience.

Lanes Group are looking for a fit and healthy individual to join our trunk and large local sewer entry team as CP2, working within a team of three to six engineers on complex sewer cleaning and confined space entry projects. You must have a good understanding of confined space entry and be able to work within a team. This opportunity will see the successful candidate working in collaboration with Thames Water on a daily basis.

Candidates will be required to be compliant with Thames Water confined space entry procedures:

  • HSP 14 Guide to planning entering and working safely in confined spaces
  • HSP 46 Safe and secure isolation - waste water assets

Position: Night CP2 in Charge
Location: Gerrard's Cross Treatment Works, Trunks Department (Gerrard's Cross, Buckinghamshire)
Job Type: permanent, full-time
Hours: Sunday to Thursday nights, 50 hours
Salary: Competitive, depending upon experience

About the Role: Due to continued growth and development, we are now looking for customer-focused people to join us in our Utility Division, working on our Thames Water contract service to deliver real and effective solutions to waste-water network and drainage problems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake Face Fit testing on a regular basis and remain clean shaven when required to enter confined spaces
  • Fully conversant with TW procedures and systems
  • Authoritative, challenging and not easily swayed
  • An uncompromising approach with attention to detail
  • Be trained and appointed to provide Emergency First Aid (CP2 Only)
  • All safety equipment is inspected, calibrated, tested and available in good working order
  • Report to the manager/authorised person of any incident, dangerous occurrence defects of other exceptional incidents occurring during the work in confined spaces
  • Operatives are medically fit on the day of the planned entry
  • Employees are fully briefed and understand the risks and controls
  • All entry documentation is completed
  • Understand and accept permits to work
  • Ensure appropriate emergency procedures are in place
  • Stop work and withdraw personnel and equipment if conditions change
  • Designate Emergency Rescue Team
  • Be aware of all Lanes Group policies and your responsibility towards them
  • Any other reasonable ad-hoc duties requested by management

About You: The ideal candidate will be hard working and respectful and comply with health and safety standards. Level 2 Award in Entrant and Entry Controller for Confined Spaces (Medium Risk) or Level 3 Award in Working in Confined Space Recovery Team is beneficial but not essential, as is Level 3 in Supervising Teams Undertaking Confined Space Works. Other drainage qualifications (e.g. NRSWA and Confined Spaces) are an advantage, as well as trauma first aid training and a face fit test. You must have a full UK drivers licence to be able to travel to sites.
