We are delighted to announce a major new contract win with Welsh Water, supporting them over the next four years and beyond, delivering proactive and reactive maintenance of their Wastewater Network. We’re now recruiting a Civils Skilled Operative - Section 81 Works to join our North and Central Wales teams. This is a great opportunity to build a long‑term career with Sapphire Utility Solutions and Lanes Group.

About the role:

  • Location: Kimnel Bay
  • Hours: 47.5 hours per week Monday to Friday, 7am-5pm, with on call requirements.
  • Enhanced Overtime Rates
  • Salary: up to £15 per hour depending on experience

Responsibilities:

  • Replace manhole covers and frames as well as other iron work items on network assets.
  • Undertake all types of reinstatement (concrete, modular paving and flexible surfacing).
  • Assist with undertaking a Point of Work Risk Assessment, raising any concerns with the Team Leader on site or the relevant Supervisor.
  • Assist with updating and completing site documentation using apps on work tablet and/or mobile.
  • Operate machinery and tools safely and efficiently to assist with various tasks.
  • Recording photographic evidence of jobs performed and completed.
  • Maintain equipment and tools to ensure they are in good working condition.
  • Wearing and maintaining Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Ensuring highway compliance with reinstatement to avoid defects.
  • Be able to read and understand Statutory Undertakers' Service drawings.

What we are looking for:

Whilst we are looking for the skills and knowledge to be able to carry out the responsibilities of the role it’s just as important to have employees with a positive and caring attitude or those who are looking to develop further and grow with the group.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Full UK driving license (Required), with no more than 6 penalty points.
  • Training will be NPORS, Banksman, Manual Handling, Emergency First Aid, NRSWA, EUSR National Water Hygiene, Asbestos Awareness, Slinger and Signaller, Abrasive Wheels, Calm Water, EUSR Safe Dig – Cat & Genny, EUSR Water, Face Fit Tested – FFP3.
