In this critical role, we ensure our organisation is known for being the best in everything we do, leaving a legacy of absolute quality and compliance, and keeping our promises at all times. We operate 24/7, and as such, you are required to work flexible hours, weekends, and participate in an on-call rota. Full training, PPE, and use of company equipment will be provided to ensure that all our drainage engineers have the right tools, competency, and confidence to undertake the work to Lanes’ high standard of operation regardless of background or previous experience.
Position: HGV Class 2 Drainage Engineer
Location: Camberley Sewage Treatment Works, Camberley, Surrey
Job Type: Permanent, full-time
Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours (plus some weekends)
Salary: OTE £50,000 per annum (made up of basic pay, overtime, on call allowance and bonuses)

About the Role: Due to continued growth and development, we are now looking for customer-focused people to join us in our Utility Division, working on our Thames Water contract service to deliver real and effective solutions to waste-water network and drainage problems.
- Travelling to residential sites via a HGV in a two-person team, around the region, powering a high-pressure water jet for restoration
- Clean, clear and maintain drainage systems
- Record each job report correctly on the specialist equipment provided
- Run diagnostics and repairs on drains
- Deliver good customer service
- Maintain good health and safety practice while carrying out works
- Ensure vehicle stock is full and replenished
- Comply with health and safety responsibilities, i.e. PPE / safe site setups protecting Lanes Group employees, the public and other road users
- Utilise VISTEC and Salesforce platforms
- Operate JHL specification vacuum tankers and associated equipment
- Safely access vehicle cabs, sites and offices using correct procedures (e.g., three points of contact)
- Manipulate flexible pipework in a safe manner utilising correct manual handling techniques
- Work unsupervised in all weather conditions, wearing correct PPE or utilising the lone worker system
- Dynamically risk assess site access and working conditions depending on specific circumstances on arrival
- Liaising with the client regarding process and any updates
- Provide support to your colleagues
- Conduct thorough inspections of tools, equipment and plant before and after use
- Report any defects or malfunctions
- Carry out risk assessments and have a mature approach to risk perception
- Be aware of all Lanes Group policies and your responsibilities towards them
- Any other reasonable ad-hoc tasks, duties or projects as requested by management

About You: The ideal candidate will be hard-working and respectful and comply with health and safety standards. Experience in the use of High Pressure Jetting equipment is useful but not essential. Other drainage qualifications (e.g. NRSWA and Confined Spaces) are an advantage.
You must have a minimum of a HGV Class 2 licence, completed the certificate of professional competence (CPC), and have an up-to-date digi tachograph card.
