We operate 24/7, and as such, you are required to work flexible hours, weekends, and participate in an on-call rota. Full training, PPE, and use of company equipment will be provided to ensure that all our drainage engineers have the right tools, competency, and confidence to undertake the work to Lanes’ high standard of operation.
Position: Portareel Drainage Engineer
Location: Camberley sewage treatment works (Camberley, Surrey)
Job Type: Permanent, full-time
Hours: Monday to Friday, 50 hours (06:00 - 16:30)

About the Role:
- Due to continued growth and development, we are looking for customer-focused people to join us in our Utility Division, working on our Thames Water contract service to deliver effective solutions to waste-water network and drainage problems.
- Working alongside a HGV two-person crew to operate a portareel for both planned and reactive blockages.
- Delivering good customer service.
- Maintaining good H&S practice while carrying out works.
- Ensuring vehicle stock is full and replenished.
- Complying with health and safety responsibilities, i.e., PPE / safe site setups protecting Lanes Group employees, the public, and other road users.
- Utilising VISTEC and Salesforce platforms.
- Liaising with the client regarding progress and any updates.
- Ability to work unsupervised in all weather conditions utilising correct PPE, lone worker system, etc.
- Dynamically risk assessing site access & working conditions depending on specific circumstances on arrival.
- Providing support to your colleagues.
- Conducting thorough inspections of tools, equipment, and plant before/after use.
- Reporting any defects or malfunctions in regards to training.
- Carrying out risk assessments and having a mature approach to risk perception.
- Being aware of all Lanes Group policies and your responsibility towards them.
- Any other reasonable ad-hoc duties requested by management.

About You:
The ideal candidate will be hard-working and respectful and comply with health and safety standards. Experience in the use of High Pressure Jetting equipment is useful but not essential. Other drainage qualifications (e.g., NRSWA and Confined Spaces) are an advantage.
