We are thrilled to announce a major contract win with Southern Water!

We are recruiting for a number of Drainage Engineers to work in 2 person teams, covering the whole of Kent on our Patching and Lining team.

We operate 24/7 and as such you are required to work flexible hours, weekends and participate in an on-call rota.

Full training / PPE / use of company equipment will be provided to ensure that all our drainage engineers have the right tools, competency, and confidence to undertake the work to Lanes’ high standard of operation regardless of background or previous experience.

Salary: OTE £50,000 per annum (made up of basic pay, overtime, on call allowance and bonuses)

About the role

Due to continued growth and development, we are now looking for customer focused people to join us in our Utility Division, working on our Southern Water contract service to deliver real and effective solutions to waste-water network and drainage problems.

  • Travelling to residential sites via a specially equipped van in a two person team, around the region.
  • Repair and maintain drainage systems, installing patch liners to carry out first-time-fix sewer and drain repair.
  • Utilise the Picote system to remove scale, roots, concrete, and other hard obstructions that high pressure water jetting systems can’t remove.
  • Survey the network of drainage systems and assess pip conditions to produce high quality reports with the help of state of the art drain surveying equipment.
  • Record each job report correctly on the specialist equipment provided.
  • Delivering good customer service.
  • Maintaining good H&S practise while carrying out works.
  • Ensure vehicle stock is full and replenished.
  • To comply with health and safety responsibilities i. e. PPE / safe site set ups protecting Lanes Group employees, the public and other road users.
  • To be able to utilise VISTEC and Salesforce platforms.
  • Liaising with the client regarding progress and any updates.
  • Ability to work unsupervised in all weather conditions utilising correct PPE, lone worker system, etc.
  • Dynamically risk assess site access & working conditions depending on specific circumstances on arrival.
  • Provide support to your colleagues.
  • To conduct thorough inspections of tools, equipment and plant before/after use.
  • Report any defects or malfunctions in regards to training.
  • Carry out risk assessments and have a mature approach to risk perception.
  • Be aware of all Lanes Group policies and your responsibility towards them.
  • Any other reasonable ad-hoc duties requested by management.

What is essential is the ability to work safely to quickly diagnose and deliver practical and efficient solutions to attain the highest levels of customer satisfaction.

About you:
The ideal candidate will be hard working and respectful and comply with health and safety standards.

Experience in the use of High Pressure Jetting equipment is useful but not essential, as is Confined Space Entry training (AP2).

Other drainage qualifications (e. g.

NRSWA and OS19X) are an advantage.

Due to the weight of the specialised van (5.5T), you must have a minimum of a HGV Class 2 licence, completed the certificate of professional competence (CPC), and have an up to date digi tachograph card.
