About the role:

The Lanes Group are looking for an Assistant Accountant to join the Finance team supporting the Senior Management Accountant. This position is joining a team of 7 and is working in our Group Head office in Leeds.

Location: Leeds, LS12 6AB

Hours: Monday to Friday 37.5 hours per week (8.30am-5pm)

Salary: Circa £32,000

You will gain great exposure into Management Accounts duties and receive full support and training from the Senior Management Accountant as well as the wider team.

  • Produce monthly management accounts, including routine journal postings (accruals, prepayments, depreciation etc).
  • Post daily cash postings/bank reconciliation and issue weekly cash reports.
  • Monitor rebate accounts to ensure that rebate payments are made correctly and on time.
  • Complete monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Review financial performance against budget and analyse any variances.
  • Work with depot managers to gather data on KPIs and use this information to drive improvements in the business.
  • Nominal coding of invoices.
  • Support with Year-end preparation such as preparing financial statements, including the balance sheet and income statement, ensuring that all financial records are up to date.
  • Analyse sales data and make provisions for any potential liabilities or losses.
  • Work with external auditors to ensure that the financial statements are accurate and comply with accounting standards.

About You:

The successful candidate must be AAT qualified and have 2+ years previous experience working in Finance and a general Accounts Assistant role. If you are looking to further progress with your qualifications, we are supporting with study.

You must be able to demonstrate a methodical and logical approach to your work and have confident time management skills.
