About the Role
As a Site Supervisor, you will lead operational teams within a defined catchment, ensuring seamless end‑to‑end management of all works while delivering an exceptional customer journey. Work with the Senior Management Team, Client and Local Authority to agree extent of works and maintain relationships throughout. Maintain positive relationships with clients, addressing any concerns or requests promptly and professionally. Encourage and enable personal development within your team. Work closely with planning and scheduling teams to ensure effective resource allocation, job prioritisation, and workforce coordination. Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with the standards, policies and procedures of Lanes Group and its customers. Lead and control Civils Operatives and Gangers engaged in all activities concerning the civil works aspects of the contract. Optimise resources by ensuring that the work is scheduled appropriately with the assistance of the scheduling team. Manage the team’s fleet/plant and material requirements to ensure efficient and timely completion of works. Produce method statements and procedures; competent in reading and understanding specifications, drawings and engineering documentation. Keep records of all work completed and ensure client systems are updated in real time. Command respect of the workforce and develop excellent working relationships with all other department personnel and client management. Communicate confidently with internal and external clients. Give efficient and effective instructions to the workforce and manage the daily operations of the teams. Read and interpret drawings, including excavation dimensions, pipe and rebar angles, concrete mixtures, locations and shoring designs. Ensure work crews are supplied with tools, equipment and materials; prevent wastage and misuse of equipment, materials and tools. Supervise work crews to best utilise manpower and materials; enforce discipline to prevent absenteeism, unsafe work practices and idleness. Apply all HS&E and quality procedures, regulations and strictly enforce them with the workforce under your responsibility. Identify, formulate and implement training programmes for the workforce. Comply with the highest level of safety during all stages of work.
About You
- Previous experience of supervision within the wastewater industry.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Strong leadership qualities and ability to motivate and guide teams towards achieving targets.
- Excellent organisational, time‑management and customer‑service skills.
- Proactive approach to problem‑solving with a focus on achieving results.
- Experience in a Supervisor role within the utilities sector, preferably the drainage industry.
Working Hours & Location
- Shift pattern: Monday to Friday, 47.5 hours per week.
- Location: Malton and surrounding regional areas.
- Salary: £38,000 – £42,000.
- Company car/car allowance.
- 25 days holiday plus bank holidays.
