We are seeking an experienced and proactive Night HSQE Supervisor to join our Rail Division.

This is a key role within the business, responsible for supporting operational teams and Business Managers in delivering our Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental (HSQE) objectives across rail projects and maintenance activities.

You will play a vital role in ensuring compliance with industry legislation, Network Rail and London Underground standards, company management systems, and best practice.

The successful candidate will be a visible safety leader, providing guidance, supervision, auditing and support to operational teams working across the rail infrastructure environment.

Hours- Sunday to Thursday 10pm-6am

Key Responsibilities

  • Health, Safety, Quality & Environmental Leadership
  • Identify and monitor new legal and compliance requirements relevant to rail operations.
  • Support the development and implementation of HSQE policies, procedures and safe systems of work.
  • Coordinate and chair Health & Safety Committee meetings, including action tracking and reporting.
  • Produce analytical reports and trend analysis on safety performance data.
  • Act as Sentinel Coordinator and promote compliance with safety-critical requirements.
  • Lead emergency preparedness activities and support incident response.
  • Drive continuous improvement in HSQE performance across the Rail Division.
  • Compliance, Competence & Communication
  • Monitor employee compliance with company health and safety requirements.
  • Ensure statutory obligations relating to health, safety and welfare are met.
  • Maintain accurate health, safety and training records.
  • Undertake Permit to Work (PTW) and Planned Worksite Safety (PWT) monitoring and reviews.
  • Attend and contribute to management meetings, providing professional HSQE guidance and reports.
  • Site Inspections & Auditing
  • Conduct regular site inspections, audits and safety monitoring activities.
  • Review risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work.
  • Ensure fire safety inspections, drills and emergency arrangements are completed and recorded.
  • Oversee workplace activities, installations and repairs to ensure safe working practices.
  • Provide HSQE supervision for complex or high‑risk activities.
  • Support internal management system audits and certification requirements.
  • Training, Plant & Equipment
  • Monitor the condition and maintenance of plant, tools and equipment.
  • Arrange repair or removal of unsafe equipment.
  • Promote competency through training, coaching and development.
  • Provide management support to the HSQE Administrator.
  • Work collaboratively with the Plant & Equipment Administrator to ensure safe and compliant operations.
  • Subcontractor Management
  • Assess subcontractors to ensure compliance with company standards.
  • Conduct desktop evaluations, management system audits and site‑based assessments.
  • Monitor subcontractor HSQE performance and implement improvement actions where required.
  • Incident Investigation & Performance Monitoring
  • Investigate accidents, incidents and unsafe conditions.
  • Ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented effectively.
  • Produce accident statistics and management reports.
  • Conduct vehicle inspections and site spot‑checks.
  • Monitor compliance with POWRA, risk assessments, SPC packs and PPE requirements.
  • Support monthly management reviews of HSQE performance.
