An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our friendly GP practice team. We are seeking a compassionate, enthusiastic and motivated individual to take on the post of Healthcare Assistant (HCA). The successful candidate will support clinicians in delivering high quality, patient-centred care. You will work closely with GPs, Practice nurses and administrative staff to ensure a smooth, efficient service and a positive experience for our patients. This is a 22.5 hour role, covering Wednesday-Friday each week.
Main duties of the job
- Perform clinical observations, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, weight and BMI
- Undertake phlebotomy and obtain samples for testing
- Support chronic disease management reviews under the guidance of the nursing team
- Administer selected vaccines and injections
- Conduct NHS Health Checks and support health promotion activity
- Prepare and maintain clinical rooms, ensuring equipment is clean and stocked
- Accurately record patient information using clinical systems
- Support clinicians during minor surgery and coil clinics
- Provide high-quality, compassionate patient care at all times.

Person Specification
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Good IT skills and confidence using IT systems
- Understanding of infection control and confidentiality principles
- Previous experience working as a Healthcare Assistant
- Experience supporting chronic disease reviews
- Knowledge of SystmOne primary care clinical software
