We have an exciting opportunity for a qualified lawyer, who has experience advising on a broad range of commercial contracts and data protection matters, to join our well-regarded and friendly in-house Legal team. To be successful, you will need a pragmatic and commercial approach alongside having excellent contract negotiation skills. This position will particularly suit if you are looking for a hands-on commercial role offering a broad range of work whilst maintaining work-life balance.
What will you be doing?
- Providing commercially focused, pragmatic legal advice and support across a broad range of business activities and client engagements
- Advising on client contracts such as engagement terms, master services agreements, client secondments, non-disclosure agreements, reliance letters, and release letters
- Advising on a wide range of legal, risk, and compliance matters affecting the firm, including intellectual property and data protection issues
- Supporting the business in understanding the legal and regulatory implications of new service lines and modelling and analytics tools, including drafting associated contractual documentation and website terms
- Working closely with the Data Protection and Information Security team, providing advice on privacy, data protection, and cybersecurity requirements
- Acting as a trusted adviser and building excellent internal relationships with partners, client-facing and internal support teams
- Advising internal support teams and professional committees on legal matters, including supplier contracts, policies and procedures, and new legal developments
- Contributing to the development and maintenance of internal legal policies, procedures, and templates
- Providing training to the legal team and wider business
- Keeping up to date with legal developments, proactively sharing knowledge, and contributing to the ongoing development of the team
What skills, experience and qualities are we looking for?
- A qualified solicitor in England & Wales (other suitable jurisdictions may be considered) with a minimum of five years' post-qualification experience
- Broad experience in general commercial legal matters, with a knowledge of intellectual property and data protection law advantageous
- Recent experience at a reputable law firm and/or as an in-house lawyer within a multinational or large domestic organisation, with experience in the professional services sector advantageous
- Excellent negotiation skills across both legal and commercial issues
- A high level of professionalism, discretion, and integrity
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
- Business acumen, commerciality and pragmatism
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced environment
- Flexibility in relation to tasks and working hours, including willingness to work from other LCP offices in the UK where required (travel expenses will be reimbursed when working from alternative offices)
- A commitment to 40% (2 days per week) office attendance, including attendance on weekly team days (Wednesday & Thursday)
