LCP Delta is looking for a Consultant specialising in the Commercial & Industrial Digital and Energy Management System (EMS) space, who can play a key role in shaping how businesses navigate the rapidly evolving energy digitalisation and flexibility landscape. Helping our B2B clients – energy service companies, technology and software providers, energy retailers, aggregators, etc. – grow in and develop solutions for decarbonising and optimising C&I energy use is a growing core area for LCP Delta.

This ranges from sizing the market opportunity, to modelling value stacks, to identifying the right partners and acquisition targets, and to building value propositions that C&I end-customers will find attractive.

LCP Delta’s C&I Team

LCP Delta’s Commercial & Industrial team supports a diverse array of both existing and new clients including energy suppliers, policymakers, manufacturers, technology companies, investors, network operators, and new market entrants. Our offerings include:

  • Market analysis and forecasting
  • Customer research and proposition development
  • Strategic innovation consulting
  • Energy demand forecasting and modelling
  • Supporting clients to make effective strategic decisions and innovate for competitive advantage
  • Technology and product analysis

Example research and consulting projects:

  • Partnership screening (EMS player) for an energy solutions provider looking to develop a smart battery + energy tariff + optimisation offering
  • Market sizing for the global energy services market for a major technology and energy services provider
  • Customer segmentation and insights for the C&I sector across segments such as retail, offices, healthcare, education, hospitality, heavy and light industries, etc.
  • Competitor analysis around providers of controls, building-level or multi-site energy management, and building services
  • Value stack modelling (including implicit and explicit flexibility value streams) and customer propositions analysis for C&I battery offering
  • Energy contract benchmarking compared to client’s key competitors and industry standard
  • Strategic support for an energy services company (ESCo) looking to expand into the C&I space
  • Identifying opportunities for various business models in the C&I segment
  • Commercial due diligence for an investment into a high-temperature industrial heat pump company
  • Assessing gas demand for the commercial and industrial sector for a gas network operator

This is a great opportunity to:

  • Lead and contribute to projects and proposals evaluating standard and cutting-edge digital and energy management solutions, advising LCP Delta clients on innovation, market positioning, interoperability, partnerships, and routes to scale
  • Conduct deep-dive assessments of EMS and digital platforms, analysing product/system capabilities and proprietary strengths, and helping clients understand how to unlock value from distributed energy assets across a range of use cases
  • Become a recognised thought leader in this space (the intersection of energy systems, digital platforms, and commercial insight)

Your role will involve:

  • Delivering on research and consultancy projects (mix of large and small, usually more than one at the same time); delivering reports and engaging content to our clients, including delivering presentations and simplifying the complex without overly-technical jargon
  • Working closely with other LCP Delta teams (C&I, distributed energy resource—solar, battery, EV, gensets & CHP—and flexibility teams) to produce market-leading content on the digital and control layers that enable the monetisation of value stacks
  • Managing input from others within the team to effectively deliver projects and proposals
  • Conducting in-depth research and analysis, including qualitative and quantitative methods
  • Providing expert insight and opinion on C&I digitalisation and energy optimisation topics to clients and internal colleagues
  • Building and maintaining relationships with industry players
  • Supporting other projects in the LCP Delta team outside of the C&I space as required

What skills, experience and qualities are we looking for?

  • Hands-on experience with multiple digital and EMS product classes
  • A comprehensive understanding of C&I digital and EMS market players and their solutions
  • Expert knowledge of interoperability protocols and standards
  • An understanding of control systems & protection awareness
  • Proven experience working in the C&I (energy) space and providing technical assessments for energy projects/solutions
  • Experience in working with TSO/DSO integrations of EMS and VPPs – a preferable edge
  • An existing network within the C&I industry and excellent relationship-building skills
  • Excellent analytical skills and an ability to simplify complexity
  • A desire to grow your knowledge base and become a recognised thought leader
  • Experience in leading teams to deliver projects
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and a team player
  • Ability to manage a varied workload and multiple deadlines, with good organisational skills
