Within the Insurance Analytics team, we are passionate about applying the latest analytics techniques to actuarial work and are keen to work with people who share our passion. Our market-leading analytics platform, LCP InsurSight, was launched in April 2020 and is used by some of the largest insurers in the world to assess over £150bn reserves.

What’s the role and what will you be doing?

The Developer will be pivotal in our Insurance Analytics team, playing a crucial role in advancing LCP InsurSight, our leading insurance analytics platform. As this role is for the second C# developer within our growing team, you will have the benefit of the guidance of our lead C# developer, but also the opportunity to take ownership of your work and to work closely with our wider team of data scientists, actuaries, and industry specialists. Overall, the role offers an exciting blend of technical development and industry application, providing a fertile ground for professional growth in a multidisciplinary environment.

Specifically, you will be:

  • Engaging in the iterative enhancement and feature development of LCP InsurSight, aligning with the strategic vision of the Insurance Analytics team and responding to evolving client needs.
  • Focusing on C# with supplementary involvement in other languages (e.g., Python), under the guidance of senior developers.
  • Collaborating across disciplines, interfacing with actuaries, analytics specialists, and developers to integrate comprehensive analytics into software solutions, enriching the platform\’s value proposition.
  • Implementing industry-standard software development practices, championing code quality, maintainability, and robust testing methodologies to ensure the reliability and scalability of our solutions.
  • Participating in the research, evaluation, and prototyping of emerging technologies and methods, contributing to the team\’s innovation and continuous improvement ethos.
  • Facilitating the dissemination of technical knowledge within the team, aiding in the development of a learning-oriented culture that values curiosity and professional growth.

What are we looking for?

  • Demonstrable proficiency in C# development (.NET 6 / 8).
  • Practical knowledge of or eagerness to learn Azure PaaS/SaaS offerings (Azure Functions, App Services, Table/Queue/Blob Storage), ASP.NET WebAPI, and database technologies (CosmosDB).
  • Demonstrable knowledge of software engineering principles such as unit testing, change management control, and SOLID principles.
  • Exposure to or keen interest in the non-life insurance analytics domain, with a willingness to bridge technology and actuarial science to deliver impactful solutions.
  • Effective communication skills, capable of articulating technical concepts to diverse audiences and collaborating constructively within cross-functional teams.
  • A problem-solving mindset, proactive in identifying and addressing challenges, with a commitment to excellence and a penchant for continuous learning.
  • Familiarity with Agile development processes, emphasizing adaptability, collaboration, and a customer-centric approach to software development.
  • Experience in Python development is beneficial but not essential.
