The Opportunity:

LCP Delta, our energy team, has a mission to enable a better, faster energy transition globally by supporting the energy sector to drive progress to net zero. LCP Delta was formed through the merger of Delta-EE and LCP Energy to bring together expertise across the energy spectrum ranging from how our electricity is generated to how we consume electricity in our homes. We are passionate people using data, primary research insights and modelling across all aspects of energy to provide market leading advice, support and tools through subscription research, consulting, technology and data. We support a range of clients including governments, energy giants and start-ups encompassing policy makers, traders, investors and manufacturers.

Your Role:

This role sits with our power consultancy team where we focus on projects looking at the future electricity system. This involves using our in-house modelling tools and expertise to provide market leading modelling and analysis for the power sector across GB and European markets. Our work is varied covering both system and asset level analysis. Our system analysis focuses on what the future system needs to look like to support the drive to net zero including working with government on new policies and supporting industry to understand future challenges. Our asset level analysis focuses on the revenues and impact a new asset, such as a wind plant, battery or hydrogen power station.

The role will involve:

  • Using our in-house modelling software to simulate the future power system and provide forecasts on key outputs such as emissions levels, costs and revenues of assets.
  • Investigating and analysing complex electricity market data for GB and European markets.
  • Developing an in-depth knowledge of electricity markets and policies, including how the electricity sector interacts with other parts of the energy sector.
  • Interacting with clients to understand their needs and how we can help including supporting on writing and delivery of reports and presentations for clients.
  • Collaborating across teams within LCP Delta, such as working with our model development team to review and test new capability in our models.
  • Expanding skills and knowledge through regular training.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A Level Maths A Grade (taking into account any contextualisation of grades).
  • Degree educated (minimum 2:1) or currently studying for a degree and on track to achieve a 2:1 – STEM subject.
  • Competence in IT skills and data analysis – including Microsoft software such as Excel and PowerPoint.
  • An interest in the energy transition and an awareness of topical issues.
  • Problem solving, numeracy and analytical skills.
