Energy Data Scientist – Optimisation Specialist
LCP Delta is looking for an experienced analyst to join our fast-growing team and play a key role in our growth, working with a wealth of experience across our Power Market Modelling and Tech and Data teams.
This is a great opportunity to:
- Develop cutting-edge enhancements for our optimisation models, including developing capability for our new web-based optimisation tools
- Contribute to the development of exciting new projects from the ground up
What will you be doing?
- Exploring new ways to leverage our existing optimisation capabilities
- Developing our next suite of optimisation frameworks
- Working with our clients to shape future work and grow business aims. Identifying problems and providing solutions in a timely manner
- To be a competent, active, engaged and willing member of the consulting and development team
- Keeping up to date with the developments and changes in the energy markets, to shape how our modelling frameworks changes with this
LCP Delta’s Power Market Modelling team develops in-house models of pan-European energy markets. Our consulting teams use these models to support key decision makers enabling the energy transition. This includes helping Governments and regulators design effective policy and supporting investors to understand revenues expected from their assets.
What skills, experience and qualities are we looking for?
- Educated to degree level or equivalent experience with a numerical background
- Experienced in object-oriented programming – preferably in Python, C# is a bonus
- Working experience in optimisation, specifically mixed integer linear programming
- Power market knowledge – an understanding of European markets is a plus
- Confident working with large datasets
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to discuss technical matters in non-technical language, both internally and to our clients
- Excellent analytical and logical thinking, with the ability to clearly communicate examples of work
- Comfortable working collaboratively within a team
- Have an enthusiasm for learning new skills on the job
