Location - London or Winchester with hybrid working as per departmental requirements (currently a MINIMUM of 40% (2 days per week).

We have a great opportunity to join LCP as an Infrastructure Engineer. In this role, you’ll work at the intersection of traditional infrastructure and the emerging potential of AI and automation. With 90% of our infrastructure in Azure and 10% on-premise, this is a hands-on role with broad technical exposure. You’ll help support LCP’s ambition to remain a technology leader by applying modern solutions and a forward-thinking approach.
What will you be doing?
- Take part in the 24/7 major incident on-call rota
- Develop, support and continuously improve LCP’s technology infrastructure across seven physical offices and multiple Microsoft cloud subscriptions
- Design and implement standardised templates and configuration baselines that enable approved teams to self-serve cloud resources efficiently
- Build and support infrastructure solutions across compute, storage, networking, physical infrastructure, software, COTS, open-source tools, and virtual and cloud environments including IaaS, PaaS and SaaS
- Proactively automate manual or repetitive infrastructure tasks to reduce time spent on standard practices
- Maintain infrastructure components securely, including identity and access management, patching and disaster recovery, while promoting good practice and compliance
- Maintain processes and controls that support high availability and responsive service for stakeholders across physical and cloud-based workloads
- Maintain and develop awareness of information security, and the controls used to mitigate threats within solutions and services
- Apply modern infrastructure standards and practices
- Coordinate with third-party vendors, where required, to support the ongoing health and availability of hosted or outsourced services
- Work with the Security Operations Centre (SOC), as required, on threat detection and response activity in conjunction with Information Security and in line with established LCP incident response processes
- Take ownership of incidents and problems until they are resolved, mitigated, or formally handed over where appropriate
- Conduct root cause analysis to identify and resolve underlying issues
- Troubleshoot across a range of infrastructure technologies
- Collaborate with colleagues within and beyond the team as needed
- Act as a second-line escalation point for infrastructure issues raised through self-service or via the Service Desk
What skills and experience are we looking for?
- Experience of managing infrastructure within a DevOps organisation, including Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), automation, and enterprise monitoring and reporting tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Zabbix and Azure Monitor
- Experience of Linux Server
- Experience with Azure and one of the following: Google Cloud or AWS
- Experience of managing IP-based networks, WAN technologies, virtual server technologies, cloud platforms, DHCP/DNS, Microsoft 365, and SAN/NAS storage technologies
- Experience with modern infrastructure event and log management, alerting, and related workflow automation tools such as Power Automate, Azure Log Analytics and Azure Monitor
- Ability to take ownership of infrastructure issues and coordinate resolution, working cross-functionally to ensure solutions continue to meet business needs
- Ability to break problems down into their component parts, diagnose root causes, and troubleshoot across different technology areas
- Strong planning and organisational skills, including the ability to coordinate several workstreams at once while balancing priorities and quality
- Ability to balance changing and sometimes competing demands through sound judgement, prioritisation and pragmatism
