Our diverse team has a friendly and informal working atmosphere, but we are passionate about the quality of our work, providing the best solutions for our clients and the environment, and making excellent ‘people places’. This exciting opportunity will be based within, and supported by, our existing landscape design teams with the opportunity to work with colleagues in other disciplines, such as ecologists, landscape managers, planners, and more. Many of our projects are multidisciplinary which means the role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of projects.

Some of our current projects include:

  • Historic designed landscapes, parks and gardens
  • Residential master plans and detailed design
  • Community green spaces and parks
  • Schools

The role will offer the exciting opportunity to explore various locations across England and Wales. Some examples of previous and ongoing work are Pinewood and Shepperton Studios in Buckinghamshire, Bramshill Estate in Hampshire, Stourhead in Wiltshire, Tyntesfield in Bristol, Hulton Park & Lee Hall in Bolton, Bristol Zoo, Bath Press, Malmesbury Primary School and Oxford High School.

The role includes the opportunity to share and participate actively in the management and ownership of the business through the Employee Ownership Trust, which places full ownership of the company with the employees. This is also an opportunity to work for a sincere, employee‑owned company with strong values and a particular focus on addressing the climate emergency. The role is based in LUC’s office in Bristol. We work in a hybrid model with people being in the office a minimum of two days per week. There will also be travel required to visit sites, client offices and other office locations.

A full‑time role is based on 37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday). However, LUC has a strong track record in flexible working, and we have been recognised for our flexible working culture, so we are happy to discuss a range of flexible working options for this role including part time hours (minimum 30 hours per week) if desired.

Experience and qualifications

The successful candidate will have an enthusiasm for the profession. They will be able to demonstrate creative design flair, and a rigorous and thoughtful approach to project work. They will have strong graphic, oral and written communication skills. The successful candidate will also demonstrate a willingness and ability to learn quickly under the guidance of more senior members of the team.

Skills and competency

  • Educated with a relevant Landscape Architecture qualification at degree or post graduate level (or a blend of knowledge and qualifications reflecting a similar level of expertise).
  • Skills and competency in graphic software packages particularly including use of the full Adobe Creative Suite and AutoCAD.
  • A passion for delivering projects that make a difference - both to people and to the environment.
  • Enthusiasm and a willingness to work hard, learn and develop, and take on new challenges.
  • Team working ethic and willingness to support and learn from senior team members.
  • Experience of working in a professional office environment in the UK.
  • Keen to begin their Pathway to Chartership/become a fully chartered member of the Landscape Institute or may have recently achieved CMLI status.
  • Understanding of BIM standards and use of Revit software and/or other 3D modelling software.
  • Strong hand drawing skills.
  • UK Driving Licence.

Candidates must be eligible to live and work in the UK. Please apply by uploading your CV and covering letter via the above link. LUC is committed to equality, diversity and inclusion and we actively encourage applications from under‑represented groups.
