The role will be based at Brighton Marina, with occasional travel to other sites around the country and London Victoria as required. This role is contracted for 21 hours per week to be worked a minimum of 3 days over 7 per week.

You'll join a small but ambitious team at Brighton Marina, working directly alongside the Centre Director to deliver the operational, commercial and guest experience objectives of the destination. The role works closely with a full suite of specialist Elevate service partners responsible for security, cleaning, technical services, landscaping and wider operational delivery. Success is achieved through strong collaboration, influence and partnership working rather than direct line management.

As Retail Manager, you will be the primary point of contact for occupiers, building strong relationships across the destination while championing an exceptional guest experience. You will support trading performance, occupier engagement and destination activation to help Brighton Marina thrive.

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Act as the primary point of contact for occupiers, developing strong and effective working relationships across retail, leisure, food and beverage operators.
  • Undertake regular occupier visits to understand trading performance, operational challenges, guest feedback and future opportunities.
  • Support occupiers in identifying opportunities to improve trading performance and enhance the guest experience.
  • Maintain regular communication with occupiers regarding centre initiatives, marketing activity, events, operational updates and business performance.
  • Coordinate and respond to occupier enquiries, ensuring issues are resolved effectively and relationships remain positive and collaborative.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date contact information for occupiers, including store managers, regional managers and head office contacts.
  • Facilitate occupier meetings, forums and engagement sessions, encouraging collaboration, feedback and participation.
  • Collate, analyse and report on occupier sales performance, identifying key growth opportunities and emerging risks.
  • Produce regular trading reports and performance updates for the Centre Management Team.
  • Identify trends, opportunities and risks affecting occupier performance and communicate findings to relevant stakeholders.
  • Maintain awareness of competitor destinations and local market trends to support business planning and retailer engagement.
  • Champion a guest-first culture across Brighton Marina, ensuring the visitor experience remains central to centre decision making.
  • Monitor guest feedback, reviews and service trends, identifying opportunities to improve satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Lead the induction of new occupiers and store managers, ensuring understanding of centre standards, operational requirements and company expectations.
  • Develop and facilitate relevant training, workshops and business development opportunities for occupiers.
  • Support occupier compliance with centre regulations, operational procedures and lease obligations, escalating concerns where appropriate.
  • Work closely with the Operations Manager and service delivery partners to ensure high standards of presentation and service across the destination.
  • Support duty management responsibilities, including weekends and special events on a rota basis.
  • Support the development of relationships with local businesses, schools, charities and community organisations.
  • Encourage occupier participation in community initiatives and destination events.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
  • Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to engage and influence a wide range of occupiers, stakeholders and partners.
  • Experience analysing performance data and using insights to identify opportunities, risks and areas for improvement.
  • Customer-focused with a passion for delivering excellent guest experiences and high service standards.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain attention to detail.
  • Commercially aware, with the confidence to support occupier performance, challenge constructively and drive positive outcomes through collaboration.
