We are seeking an experienced and inspiring individual to lead the Gardens and Landscape and Grounds team at Bolton Abbey Estate.
You will oversee the management, conservation, and future development of a diverse and historically significant landscape, ensuring exceptional standards are delivered for the enjoyment of visitors, tenants, and the family.
What you’ll do
As Head of Gardens & Landscape, you will be responsible for leading the day-to-day management and long‑term vision of the estate’s gardens and designed landscapes.
- General responsibilities
- Leadership and team management – Lead, motivate, and develop the gardens and landscape team, ensuring high standards and effective collaboration across the estate.
- Landscape management and horticulture – Oversee maintenance and presentation to the highest standards, including propagation, seasonal work, and supply of produce and flowers.
- Strategy and development – Support long‑term landscape, conservation, and biodiversity plans, managing projects and budgets to agreed standards.
- Visitor experience and collaboration – Work with the tourism and events teams to enhance access, support events, and improve the visitor experience.
- Compliance and safety – Ensure health and safety compliance across all operations, including risk management, contractors, and overall wellbeing.
