Invicta Law is seeking a Legal Assistant to join its specialist Child Protection Team, supporting lawyers who undertake vital public law work on behalf of local authority clients. This is an excellent opportunity for someone at an early stage of their legal career to gain hands-on experience in a busy, supportive and well-supervised team, working on meaningful and high-quality cases. You will play an important role in enabling the team to deliver effective legal services while developing your own skills and confidence.

We are trusted to deliver clear, practical and ethically grounded legal advice in complex and sensitive areas including child protection, asylum, community care and employment law.

Main responsibilities:

  • Providing effective administrative and legal support to solicitors and advocates within the Child Protection Team
  • Preparing and maintaining court bundles and supporting case file management
  • Liaising professionally with colleagues, clients, local authority staff, courts and external practitioners
  • Working to deadlines and managing competing priorities effectively
  • Accurately recording time and supporting case progression (training provided)
  • Maintaining SRA standards, confidentiality and professional ethics at all times
  • Supporting the smooth running of the team through a flexible and proactive approach

What we’re looking for:

  • A law degree, GDL, CILEX Part 1 or equivalent experience within a legal environment
  • Previous administrative experience desirable
  • Confidence using Microsoft Word and Outlook
  • An organised, proactive approach with the ability to work calmly under pressure
  • A genuine interest in legal work and a willingness to learn
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Experience in Child Protection or Family Law is welcome but not essential
