We’re looking for a friendly and reliable Site Operative to join our recycling centre team in Maidstone. This hands-on role involves supporting the public with safe and efficient recycling of household waste. We operate a network of Household Waste Recycling Centres, supporting residents in recycling responsibly and maintaining safe, clean public spaces. As a Site Operative, you’ll play a crucial role in promoting safety, sustainability, and excellent customer service at our household recycling centre. You’ll help ensure the site runs smoothly and customers recycle responsibly and safely. You’ll also have the chance to gain new skills and qualifications, including first aid and health & safety training—while working in a supportive team environment.
What you’ll be doing
- Supporting the public with safe disposal of household waste and promoting effective recycling
- Greeting customers and maintaining a helpful, positive attitude
- Keeping the site clean, safe, and compliant with health & safety regulations
- Using digital devices to manage bookings, vouchers, and electronic payments
- Reporting safety issues promptly to site management
- Performing regular cleaning tasks including sweeping, litter picking, and spill control
- Reinforcing site rules and promoting responsible site usage
- Wearing a body camera (provided) to support site safety for both staff and customers

- Ability to work independently and manage your time effectively
- Flexibility to work weekends—this role is specifically for Saturdays and Sundays
