Why this role matters
The Senior AV Technician leads the commissioning installation and ongoing support of audio visual and video conferencing environments across our largest client’s sites. The role combines hands on on‑site problem solving with proactive remote monitoring to keep critical rooms fully operational. You will act as the senior technical point of escalation, mentor colleagues, coordinate third parties and help maintain the highest standards of service delivery. Due to the nature of the work this role involves regular travel to customer sites across Kent so you will need a Full UK Driving Licence and access to your own vehicle.
What you’ll be doing
- Own the availability and performance of AV and VC rooms across the KCC estate.
- Monitor and action alerts within Microsoft Teams Rooms Crestron and Vantage portals resolving issues remotely or on site.
- Diagnose and fix faults while maintaining accurate clear ticket notes and meeting SLAs.
- Lead operational coordination with third party VC partners including logging tracking and escalating calls.
- Maintain firmware Windows versions naming conventions assets and site information.
- Plan and manage supplier site visits and ensure all remediation actions are captured and completed.
- Contribute to quarterly service reviews and follow through on operational actions.
- Partner with the Projects team on new room setups and equipment moves keeping asset details updated.
- Identify recurring issues or failing equipment and recommend effective solutions.
- Provide training and handovers to colleagues on common AV and VC issues.
- Any other duties consistent in nature with those outlined above or as deemed appropriate by the Regional Support Manager.
What we’re looking for
- Proven experience supporting commissioning and maintaining enterprise AV and VC systems.
- Hands on experience with Microsoft Teams Rooms, Crestron and Vantage and enterprise monitoring portals.
- Strong incident management with clear documentation ownership and SLA focus.
- Confident customer service with the ability to represent Cantium positively on client sites.
- Ability to manage assets configurations and maintain accurate inventories.
- Experience coordinating suppliers contractors or project activities.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a methodical approach.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to explain technical issues to users at all levels.
- Full UK Driving Licence and access to own vehicle.
