We are currently seeking LVIA specialists to join and support the growth of our award-winning team at BMD. Our Landscape Planning team has experienced unprecedented growth over the last 12 months, and we require three Landscape Architects with a passion for integrating LVIA techniques into the design process during early stages of strategic scale residential led projects. This is not just a report writing role – successful candidates must see the LVIA process as integral to the landscape masterplanning design process.
As a team player, with strong technical skills, the role will involve leading and preparing high quality Landscape Capacity Appraisals, Green Belt Reviews and Landscape and Visual Impact Assessments to support planning applications and EIAs across a range of projects, including some of the UK’s largest planned new settlements. We are interested in candidates who can work within an established team, but also keen and able to develop skills of the team, provide mentoring and help shape the direction of growth of landscape planning at BMD.
Responsibilities
- Undertaking site survey and analysis for LVIAs, carry out site appraisals and viewpoint analysis.
- Produce and/or oversee the production of reports, plans and other documentation to a sufficient level of detail for the stages of development, assessment and design.
- Contributing/overseeing green infrastructure/mitigation schemes and giving strategic advice on planning strategies, ensuring compliance with planning policy and best practice.
- Clear communication, including excellent client facing skills and ability to lead on conference calls, meetings and workshops.
- An understanding to work collaboratively and iteratively across both assessment and the design process with other technical disciplines within multi-disciplinary teams.
Essential Requirements
- Min 3 years post CMLI for x2 Senior Landscape Planner roles.
- Min 1 year post CMLI for Landscape Planner role.
- Technically competent in preparing LVIAs & TVIAs in accordance with best practice.
- Excellent knowledge of the UK planning system and environmental assessment processes.
- Experience of large-scale, residential masterplanning projects with associated LVIA skills.
- Experience of project management, including financial budgeting and reporting and programme management and ability to manage own budgets.
- Proficiency in CAD and Adobe Creative Suite skills.
- Exemplary writing skills.
- Experience of GIS (ArcGIS) would be beneficial.
Qualifications
- Landscape Institute accredited Bachelors degree, Diploma and/or Masters degree in Landscape Architecture.
- X2 roles CMLI + 3 years.
- X1 role CMLI + 1 year (would consider candidates working towards CMLI with appropriate level of experience).
- Full UK driving license for site work.
