At Exterior Architecture (ExA), we create bold, sustainable, and people-focused landscapes that enhance urban environments and support thriving communities. We’re looking for an experienced Associate Landscape Architect (8–10 years’ experience) to play a pivotal role in our studio — leading teams, managing complex projects, and contributing to the strategic growth of the business.
As an Associate, you’ll bridge design leadership and business management — guiding high‑quality project delivery, nurturing team development, and helping to shape ExA’s design ethos and direction.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the design and technical development of a wide range of projects – from public realm and urban regeneration to large‑scale residential and commercial landscapes
- Manage project delivery from concept through to construction, ensuring design excellence, commercial performance, and client satisfaction
- Oversee and mentor team members, providing guidance, support, and opportunities for professional growth
- Prepare and present design proposals and fee submissions, demonstrating strong commercial awareness
- Contribute to practice‑wide initiatives, including thought leadership, QA groups, and strategic innovation
- Represent ExA at industry events and conferences, helping to promote our work and strengthen professional networks
- Foster a positive, collaborative studio culture and play an active role in the development of our growing practice
What We’re Looking For
- Chartered Member of the Landscape Institute (CMLI) with 8–10+ years’ professional experience
- Strong design and technical leadership across multiple project stages
- Proven project management and resourcing experience, with sound commercial understanding
- Excellent communication, presentation, and client‑facing skills
- Ability to inspire, mentor, and support junior staff
- A collaborative mindset and enthusiasm for contributing to a creative, design‑led environment
Why Join Exterior Architecture
We offer the opportunity to work on diverse, award‑winning projects alongside a passionate, supportive team – with genuine room for professional progression.
Benefits include:
- 25 days annual leave + bank holidays (rising with service, up to 28 days)
- Option to buy or sell up to 5 days of holiday
- Support for professional memberships, CPD, and career development
- Monthly team socials and annual summer and Christmas events
- Discretionary annual bonus and tax‑free profit share (up to £3,600 per year) after one year of service
What’s Next
This role offers a clear pathway to Senior Associate, where you’ll play a key part in the strategic direction of the business and the delivery of internationally recognised projects.
