Location: Birmingham, Bournemouth or London
The purpose
As highly experienced professionals, Associate Directors (ADs) will act as practice representatives and play a role in promoting and implementing practice objectives both within and beyond the organisation. Associate Directors in landscape will have dual specialisms in landscape design and landscape planning and will lead the management of their smaller to medium sized projects. They are expected to aim to win new work and contribute to the strategic aims of tor&co. They will oversee the work of junior members and provide guidance. They will be a member of the Landscape Institute.
External Activities
- Maintain good client relations through significant client liaison, understand client aspirations and deliver in a timely fashion
- Be the main or secondary client contact depending on project size and complexity, and develop these relationships
- Represent the practice professionally to maintain a high reputation
- Lead meetings and drive results from discussions
- Contribute to writing evidence for public inquiries
- Undertake limited public speaking to promote the practice and share professional knowledge
- Highlight cross-discipline opportunities and new work leads to Technical Directors and Directors
About You
- 5+ years industry experience post CMLI qualification
- Strong conceptual and analytical design skills
- Excellent design flair and creative approach to Landscape Architecture
- Extensive experience within the English Planning System
- Experience on projects of various scales; large-scale project experience desirable
- Proficient in VectorWorks/CAD, Microsoft Office and National Building Specification; familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign and Illustrator) and Resoft WindFarm, QGIS or willingness to learn
- Excellent presentation and communication skills
- Strong understanding of project expenditure and fee monitoring
- Business development experience desirable
- Right to work in the UK
