We are seeking a gardener/horticulturist to join our established gardening teams. We have a beautiful portfolio of projects, where excellent attention to detail is key. Our gardens are located throughout Central London, Surrey and the surrounding areas and require the highest level of care.
Personal Profile
You must have proven experience and knowledge of working in gardens that require the highest level of care and attention to detail and hold a relevant qualification in gardening or horticulture, i.e. RHS or City and Guilds, level one minimum.
As a representative of Landscape Associates, each day you will be working together in a team of two to three staff members and responsible for delivering excellent horticultural service and garden maintenance to our clients and on behalf of designers.
As a gardener/horticulturist, you will be responsible for maintaining, nurturing and developing gardens whereby a proactive, passionate and conscientious attitude and comprehensive horticultural skills are key. Daily, you will work alongside up to two other gardeners in your team and report to your Team Leader to provide updates, raise concerns and offer plans, ideas and suggestions to ensure the highest level of service and care is delivered. With this, it’s important you’re a strong, collaborative, flexible team player, able to support and motivate others – both in your direct team, as well as the wider Garden Maintenance team.
Furthermore, you will regularly liaise with clients and designers, the Horticultural Manager and Assistant Horticultural Manager, so strong communication skills are essential.
Key Duties
- Executing horticultural excellence and garden maintenance service
- Communicating with your Team Leader to support garden development and attain additional works
- Working with your team and supporting the wider Garden Maintenance team
- Liaising with clients, designers and suppliers
- Supporting your Team Leader with the monitoring of, and reporting on the quality, health and development of gardens
- Following company Health and Safety processes and procedures
- Supporting with organising and managing both yours and your team’s time and resources
Key Horticultural / Garden Maintenance Duties
- Lawn care (all aspects: mowing, feeding etc.)
- Tending to borders and containers (feeding, staking, weeding, planting)
- General and specialised pruning, trimming and cutting using hand and power tools (roses, shrubs, trees etc.)
- General watering and management of irrigation systems
- Application of chemical and biological control
- Management of garden water features (cleaning, checks etc.)
- Ground and hard surface clearance (sweeping, cleaning, washing and maintenance of hard surfaces)
- Soil management (testing pH and moisture levels, mulching and improving)

Essential
- Relevant qualification in gardening or horticulture i.e. RHS or City and Guilds, level one minimum
- Experience working in gardens requiring excellent attention to detail and high standards
- Comprehensive plant knowledge
- Experience with pedestrian mowers, scarifiers, hedge trimmers and power washers
- Experience with irrigation systems
Desired
- PA1/PA6 Spraying certificates
- A valid Emergency first aid at work certificate
- Good awareness of Health and Safety
- Design experience/interest
- Experience using biological pest and disease control
- A full driving licence
