BDG architecture + design is seeking a skilled and motivated Junior Designer or Part 1 Architectural Assistant to join our team in London. We are looking for an all-rounder, someone with a passion for architecture and interior design with experience in concept development, design visualisation and a sound understanding of the technical aspects of architectural projects. You will work closely with our creative and technical directors to ensure we deliver to the highest standards and we will encourage you to be bold and think big.
Proficiency in REVIT and Adobe Suite is essential whilst experience of Enscape and SketchUp will be an advantage. BDG architecture + design is a team of 15 people, a mix of architects, designers, strategists, and communicators, spread across 3 studios in London, New York and Sao Paulo. We pride ourselves on being specialists in adaptive re-use of buildings and cutting-edge workplace design. The team are highly tech-savvy, enthusiastic and passionate about what they do. We believe that workplace design should be people-focused and that great design serves to enhance the lives of those who inhabit a space. Our studio ethos is not to follow fashion but to dig deep to find innovative solutions for each and every project.
What you’ll do:
- Support the design and production of building refurbishment and fit-out projects, contributing to all RIBA Stages 1-4.
- Assist in project design development at the concept and developed design stages, contributing to innovative and functional solutions.
- Collaborate with professional consultant teams, gaining experience in coordinating with engineers and other specialists.
- Contribute to conceptual design and internal initiatives, supporting the design process and fostering innovative thinking.
- Manage design deliverables and content, ensuring accuracy and timely completion of project documentation.
- Explore and develop specialist interests such as 3D modelling and visualisation, 3D printing, rapid prototyping, AI, and building/design technologies.
What you’ll need:
- A degree in Architecture (Part 1 qualified) is essential for this role.
- Solid proficiency in CAD software, including Autodesk AutoCAD and Revit, is expected.
- Familiarity with rendering software like Enscape and/or V-Ray would be a great asset.
- Experience using the Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign and Photoshop, is important.
- Comfort and competence with the Microsoft Suite, including MS Word, Excel, and Teams, are necessary.
- A strong understanding of materials and finishes applications is crucial for success in this position.
- We are seeking a motivated self-starter who possesses excellent organisational and teamwork abilities.
- Prior experience with leading Workplace Design and architecture studios would be a significant advantage.
- Experience with the Workplace Strategy process, along with an understanding of technical coordination and building regulations, would be highly beneficial.
