We are looking for compassionate, skilled Teaching Assistants who understand the unique rewards and challenges of working in a specialist SEND setting.

As a Teaching Assistant at Landon School, you will work directly with our students to support their educational, social, and personal development. You will be an integral part of our team, helping to create engaging learning experiences tailored to individual needs while fostering a safe and nurturing classroom environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting students with SLD and ASC in their daily learning activities
  • Assisting teachers in delivering personalized education plans
  • Building positive relationships with students, understanding their individual needs and communication styles
  • Contributing to a calm, structured, and supportive classroom environment
  • Monitoring student progress and communicating effectively with the wider team
  • Supporting students with personal care needs where appropriate

What We Are Looking For

Essential:

  • Experience in SEND settings – ideally 6+ months in SEND or EYFS environments, OR
  • A degree in a relevant field (Education, Psychology, Child Development, or similar)
  • Genuine passion for working with children with SLD and ASC
  • Patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a dedicated team

Highly Desirable:

  • 2+ years of experience in SLD/ASC settings (this is our top priority)
  • Demonstrated reliability and commitment in previous roles
  • Understanding of different communication methods used by non-verbal or minimally verbal students
  • Experience with behaviour support strategies
