About the Role

As a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant at Landon School, you will play a senior support role within our specialist teaching team. You will work with greater autonomy to deliver tailored interventions, support teachers in planning and assessment, and help lead learning activities for students with complex needs.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering planned learning activities to individuals and groups under the direction of teachers
  • Supporting the planning, delivery, and assessment of personalized education plans
  • Taking a lead role in supporting students with SLD and ASC, adapting approaches to individual communication styles and learning needs
  • Monitoring and tracking student progress, providing feedback to teachers and the wider team
  • Contributing to the development of resources and learning strategies
  • Mentoring and supporting Teaching Assistants where appropriate
  • Managing classroom behaviour using positive, trauma-informed approaches
  • Supporting students with personal care needs where required

What We Are Looking For

Essential:

  • 2+ years of SEND experience in a similar SLD/ASC setting (this is our absolute priority)
  • Level 5 HLTA qualification OR a degree in a relevant field (Education, Psychology, Child Development, or similar)
  • Proven ability to work independently and use initiative in a specialist SEND environment
  • Strong understanding of SLD and ASC, including communication needs and behaviour support
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated reliability and commitment in previous roles

Highly Desirable:

  • Evidence of career progression and increased responsibility within SEND settings
  • Experience mentoring or supporting less experienced staff
  • Knowledge of different AAC (Alternative and Augmentative Communication) methods
  • Understanding of sensory processing needs and regulatory strategies

We prioritise experience in SLD and ASC settings above all other factors. We also value candidates with stable employment history showing commitment, progression, and professional development.

Why Join Landon School?

  • Take on a senior support role where your expertise truly matters
