The role involves:
- Preparing export documents in line with official guidelines, including internal schedules/procedures and external bookings with carriers.
- Following up with carriers on delays and concerns, resolving any issues that may arise in the shipping chain.
- Preparing export documentation by air, MAWB, CI, CN documents (postal).
- Liaising with Airlines and General Sales Agents regarding flight capacity, booking space, equipment.
- Monitoring flight schedules and capacity.
- Monitoring performance and requesting uplift confirmation from airlines.
- Resolving air transport related queries.
- Maintaining in-house export schedule and providing processing instructions for warehouse operations.
- Maintaining air transport related KPI’s, performance reports and documents.
- Liaising with warehouse management and operatives regarding accurate and on-time export production.
- Reporting to Client Services delays in a clear and timely manner.
- Taking an active part in team briefs and other team meetings.
- Ensuring on-time uplift is executed and uplift confirmation is requested the following day.
- Maintaining capacity with carriers based on operations demand.
- Monitoring production and supplying relevant information to the road transport department for accurate vehicle allocation for delivery into an airline.
- Updating various transport reports and reporting any issues to line manager, operations management and customer service team.
Requirements:
- Essential experience and knowledge of a minimum of 2 years in shipping/exporting goods by air, understanding air freight and airline operations.
- Experience in planning bookings for the month, liaising with the airlines, entering the MAWBs onto the internal systems and airline portals.
- Ability to have discussions with airlines regarding rates.
- Postal and freight world knowledge.
- Import and export by air transport operations.
- Security Level D or higher CRB Check.
- 5 years checkable employment history.
- Ability to make knowledge-based decisions.
- Speed and accuracy of work.
- Comfortable with acting on reasonable management instructions.
- Collaboration with team leaders.
- Ability to admit mistakes so lessons can be learned.
- Punctual, honest, and courteous.
- Willing to learn new skills and working practices.
- Work well in a team and eager to assist others when needed.
