An experienced and professional Copywriter/Manager is sought to join a global International Relief Charity at their Hertfordshire UK HQ. The role focuses on developing compelling, insight-led content to inspire audiences and support the charity’s life-changing work. The team is small, collaborative and mission-led.
Responsibilities
- Use writing to drive real-world impact by creating compelling, insight-led content that inspires people to give, volunteer, and engage with the charity’s work.
- Write and edit copy for digital and print, including direct mail letters, adverts, magazine articles, brochures, key messages, reports, blogs, webpages, emails, social media and other marketing materials.
- Develop integrated campaigns in collaboration with the Creative Lead and Head of Brand and Communications; confidently present concepts to stakeholders and influence direction.
- Ensure copy and design work together with the Designer to tell a clear, emotive story; shape and evolve the charity’s tone of voice across all channels.
- Source and shape powerful, ethically told stories that amplify the voices of beneficiaries, teams and supporters; use data and testing to improve content performance and tailor copy for different audiences (e.g., individual givers, major donors, volunteers).
- Contribute to brand guides, especially the tone of voice guidelines, and help strengthen brand and values in all communications.
- Create content for emergencies as needed and stay informed on sector trends to shape writing.
Collaboration and Working Style
You will work closely with the Communications Team to ensure consistency across digital and print, and will collaborate with the Communications Coordinator, Engagement, Fundraising and Volunteering Teams. Build relationships with global and National Office colleagues and work with freelancers or agency partners as required to support content needs.
Qualifications and Experience
- 5+ years of professional copywriting experience with a proven ability to create engaging, story-led communications.
- Experience in nuanced writing for faith audiences is highly desired; ability to balance creative ambition with organisational priorities.
- Experience targeting a variety of audiences across print and digital; ability to create content aligned to brand and tone of voice guidelines.
- Strong collaboration and relationship-management skills; ability to work with other creatives and communicators.
- Ability to generate and pitch creative ideas; write with empathy, understanding and impact; adopt and evolve a brand tone of voice.
- Proofreading skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

The charity is driven by Christian values; candidates are encouraged to have empathy with those values. The role is open to candidates of all faiths or none.

Salary is in the region of £42–£45k + benefits (dependent on experience). Working hours are 37.5 per week, with a minimum of 2 days in the office.
