Landmarc have an exciting opportunity for a Rural Maintenance Manager to join our team, managing the delivery of countryside maintenance across our rural and built estates. Using both in-house teams and contracted services, your work will cover a broad range of activity including forestry and arboriculture, fencing, maintaining roads, tracks and public rights of way, and preserving scheduled monuments. You’ll be doing this within the context of one of the most highly designated landscapes in the UK.

The Rural Maintenance Manager will cover tasks to support the Training Estate contract at a number of sites in Hampshire and Surrey. Based from Longmoor Camp, you’ll work on a diverse range of heathland, woodland, grassland and coastal habitats and be part of an operational team that facilitates essential military training.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of operatives (performance, attendance, safety & welfare).
  • Oversee all planned, preventative and reactive maintenance across rural and built assets.
  • Allocate appropriate resources and manage contractors effectively.
  • Ensure all work meets statutory obligations and best practices, especially environmental and safety standards.
  • Develop additional works plans and identify income-generation opportunities.
  • Liaise with stakeholders and participate in on-call rota.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Qualification in rural/estate management or forestry (Level 4+) or equivalent experience.
  • Familiarity with the relevant legal context for countryside management.
  • Strong team leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong knowledge of Health & Safety.
  • Skilled in planning, problem-solving and meeting deadlines.
  • Proficient in IT tools including GIS and MS Excel.
  • Basic tree inspection qualification (desirable).
  • Full UK driving licence is essential to carry out the duties of this role.
