Job Introduction

Join our team as a Training Area Operative and help shape the future of Armed Forces training. If you enjoy working outdoors, take pride in keeping environments safe and well‑maintained, and want a role with real purpose, this could be the perfect opportunity. You’ll be part of a supportive team ensuring the Defence Training Estate remains safe, efficient and ready for military training. Landmarc offers excellent career progression and great benefits, no previous experience needed, just a great can do attitude! Shifts run between 08:00 – 16:00 from Monday to Friday. Early finishes on Friday.

What you'll be doing:

  • Keeping the Defence Training Estate in excellent condition
  • Carrying out planned, preventative and reactive maintenance
  • Operating and maintaining plant and equipment (training provided)
  • Manufacturing and deploying targets
  • Driving and operating fleet vehicles
  • Using warning systems, flags, lights and training control offices
  • Ensuring all facilities meet strict safety standards
  • Complete all necessary documentation using both IT and paper-based systems

What we're looking for:

  • Knowledge of landscape maintenance
  • Rural, forestry or arboricultural skills (desirable)
  • Basic labouring, caretaking or housekeeping experience
  • Experience with track or fencing maintenance
  • Basic IT skills (tablet use)
  • Strong awareness of Health & Safety, Manual Handling, Risk Assessments and COSHH
  • Willingness to train for high‑risk tasks (e.g. transporting dangerous loads)
  • A valid Manual UK driving licence is essential to carry out the duties of this role

About the Company

Landmarc provides the support services that enable Armed Forces from around the world to prepare for frontline military operations across the UK Defence Training Estate (DTE). This includes maintaining and delivering safe and sustainable infrastructure, managing and operating training areas and ranges and delivering multi‑million pound projects to improve vital training assets.
