Landmarc Support Services are currently seeking to recruit a Rural Operative to join our dedicated rural team based from Wathgill Camp. In this role you will play a key part in helping to maintain a safe, efficient and sustainable place for our Armed Forces to train. We are looking for someone enthusiastic about working in an outdoor rural environment, dedicated to supporting the Military training estate. Some existing rural experience is required and rural qualifications would be an advantage, however training and continuous development opportunities are provided, making this a fantastic opportunity for a career on the rural Defence Training Estate.
Working Times
- Shifts run between: 07:30 - 17:30 from Monday to Friday.
- Hours of work: 37 per week.
- Contract: Permanent.
- Location: Wathgill Camp, Wathgill, Richmond, North Yorkshire, DL11 6AH.
- Interviews to be held: Week commencing 15th June.
Operations
- Operation of rural plant & machinery, including tractors with attachments.
- General rural estate maintenance: Tree works, fencing, strimming, planting, track works, dry stone walling, and other rural tasks.
- Operation and maintenance of plant and equipment including tractors with attachments, 180 excavators, rollers, graders.
- Operation & maintenance of chainsaws and other forestry equipment such as mulchers and winches.
- Adherence to Health & Safety procedures, including risk assessments, safe systems of work, manual handling, COSHH requirements.
- Reporting defects and other reactive maintenance.
- Complete all relevant documentation utilising both IT and paper-based systems.
Experience Required
- Experience of working in a rural environment.
- Experience using Health & Safety processes and risk assessments.
- Valid UK full driving licence.
- Experience in operating tractors & plant & machinery.
- Experience working with chainsaws and other forestry equipment.
- Experience in rural infrastructure.
Desirable Knowledge / Qualifications
- Qualifications in chainsaw operations.
- Qualifications in operating plant & machinery such as tractors with attachments / machinery used in track works.
- Experience in rural boundary maintenance – stock fences, dry stone walls, etc.
- Qualifications in forestry works / machinery.
