A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a skilled and motivated Rural Maintenance Operative to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys practical, hands‑on work in a rural environment and is confident operating a wide range of plant and machinery. You’ll support the upkeep, safety, and presentation of rural estates across Kent and East Sussex, carrying out varied tasks that keep our landscapes safe, functional, and thriving.

Shifts run between: 07:30 - 17:30 from Monday to Friday.

Hours of work: 37 per week

Contract: Permanent

Location: Hythe Ranges, Reachfields, Hythe, Kent CT21 6QD

Responsibilities
  • Operation of rural plant and machinery, including tractors with attachments and ride‑on mowers
  • General rural maintenance: tree works, fencing, strimming, spraying, planting, and other practical tasks
  • Grounds maintenance across multiple sites
  • Routine inspections of rural assets
  • Adherence to Health & Safety procedures, including risk assessments, safe systems of work, manual handling, and COSHH requirements
  • Working independently as well as part of a wider team
The Ideal Candidate
  • Experience working in a rural or outdoor environment
  • Ability to work alone and manage tasks independently
  • Preparedness to work across a range of establishments across Kent and East Sussex (Base will be Acrise Yard, Hawkinge nr Folkestone)
  • A valid Manual UK driving licence is essential to carry out the duties of this role (trailer and tractor categories desirable)
