Landmarc Support Services is recruiting a Training Area Operative to join our dedicated team supporting Royal Engineers training operations. In this role you will help maintain a safe, efficient and sustainable training environment. We look for someone enthusiastic about outdoor work and dedicated to supporting the military. Landmarc provides full training and continuous development, offering a fantastic opportunity to start a career on the Defence Training Estate.
Shifts: 08:00 – 16:30 Monday to Thursday, 08:00 – 13:00 Friday (core hours available as required). Hours per week: 37. Contract: Permanent. Location: Wyke Regis Training Camp, Weymouth, Dorset, DT4 9HH.
Main Responsibilities:
- Lead person responsible for Water Safety Equipment (WSE) including inspection, supervision, maintenance and record keeping.
- Operate, maintain, clean and report faults on Combat Support Boats (CSBs) and Inflatable Safety Boats.
- Support Visiting Unit training as a Safety Boat Operator.
- Assist with boat-related stores preparation and stock‑taking.
- Carry out crane slinging operations when required.
- Perform estate maintenance (painting, pressure washing, strimming, grass cutting, basic DIY).
- Carry out Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) on portable electric devices.
- Be prepared to work at other LSS sites (incl. ranges) and attend training courses that may require stays away from home.
- Complete additional tasks directed by your Team Leader or Manager.
Ideal Candidate:
- Comfortable working outdoors and ready for hands‑on work and boat operation.
- Literate with strong communication skills.
- Basic computer literacy (knowledge of MOD systems).
- Good understanding of Health & Safety and safe systems of work.
- Competent Boat Operator – CSB, RYA L2 Powerboat and VHF Radio Operator (preferred – training available).
- Full UK Driving Licence (Essential).

- Combat Support Boat Operator.
- RYA L2 Powerboat & VHF Radio Licence.
- RYA First Aid on Water Certificate.
- Sea Survival Certificate.
