Job Overview
Landmarc Support Services is looking for a motivated and experienced Team Leader to oversee key operations on the Defence Training Estate. This role is integral to maintaining the estate’s functionality and safety, ensuring military personnel can train effectively.
As a Team Leader, you will manage a team of Training Area Operatives, with a specific focus on leading the Range Towers Team. These towers play a critical role in live firing exercises, overseeing the safety and operation of range targetry systems while providing a workspace for both Landmarc staff and visiting troops.
We are looking for an individual with experience working on the Defence Training Estate or leading a high-performing team in a rural or operational environment.
Contract and Location
- Shifts run between: Monday to Friday 07:30 – 17:30. Night Fire Cover: Tuesday and Thursday 17:30 – 23:59
- Hours of work: 39 per week
- Contract: Permanent
- Location: Lulworth Ranges, Lulworth, Wareham, Dorset, BH20 5QF
- Interviews will be held on: Tuesday 21st October
Main Responsibilities
- Line manage and support the Range Towers Team, ensuring safe and effective operations during live firing exercises.
- Actively participate in hands-on tasks—approximately 80% of your time will be spent working alongside your team.
- Monitor live firing activities from range control by monitoring the camera and radar systems.
- Oversee the operation and maintenance of range targetry systems, supporting visiting military unit.
- Conduct preventative, planned, and reactive maintenance to keep the estate operational.
- Maintain stock levels and ensure essential equipment is available.
- Operate fleet vehicles and plant machinery as required.
- Ensure all safety regulations and operational procedures are followed at all times.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation using IT and paper-based systems.
- Perform additional duties as required to support the overall success of the team.
The Ideal Candidate
- Experience in range operations, range tower duties, or a similar safety-critical role
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to engage at all levels
- Strong knowledge of Health & Safety protocols, including COSHH, manual handling, and risk assessments
- Familiarity with estate services, grounds maintenance, and plant machinery operations
- IT proficiency, including Microsoft Office and database management
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- A proactive approach to learning, with a willingness to undertake further training
- A valid UK manual driving licence is essential for this role
