A unique opportunity to work in a specialist electronic warfare training environment, supporting the systems that help prepare UK forces for real world operations. If you're technically strong and confident with fibre optics, radios, communications systems, and IT, this role offers challenge, variety, and purpose. This position suits someone with a background such as a telecoms technician, or electronics/communications specialist.

Shifts run between: 07:50 - 17:00 from Monday to Thursday, 07:50 - 16:00 Friday. 07:00 - 23:00 occasionally required for late flying operations. Working window moved to suit range opening times. Hours of work: 40 per week. Contract: Permanent. Location: RAF Spadeadam, Gilsland, Brampton, Cumbria, CA8 7AT.

What You'll Do:

  • Prepare and support Electronic Warfare ranges, ensuring systems are ready for live training.
  • Maintain, repair, and test communications systems including radios, fibre optic networks, cabling, and infrastructure.
  • Issue, control, and maintain specialist radios and communication equipment.
  • Support electronic systems used by aircraft and pilots during training exercises.
  • Carry out estate maintenance, inspections, and equipment repairs.
  • Work safely at all times, completing risk assessments and following safe systems of work.
  • Carry out preventative maintenance schedules and equipment testing.
  • Complete documentation accurately using IT and paper systems.
  • Occasionally work late hours to support live electronic warfare activity.

Main Responsibilities:

  • NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds / Apprenticeship in Telecoms, Electronics, or similar.
  • Experience with fibre optics, radios, LAN systems, and communication equipment.
  • Confident fault finding and maintaining a wide range of tools and systems.
  • Ability to accurately report and complete documentation.
  • Knowledge of COSHH, manual handling, risk assessments, and safe working practices.
  • Good communication skills and experience dealing with customers or stakeholders.
  • Willingness to train for high risk tasks (working at height, confined spaces).
  • Full UK driving licence (essential).
