We are seeking a skilled Firmware Engineer to join our development team, working on next‑generation smart gas flow metering devices. In this role, you will play a key part in transforming product requirements into robust, efficient embedded firmware running on a 32‑bit microcontroller platform. This is a hands‑on position, ideal for an engineer who enjoys working close to the hardware. You will be responsible for bringing up new boards from scratch, debugging at the hardware/software interface, and optimising firmware for ultra‑low‑power, battery‑operated applications. You will collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams, including hardware, systems, and test engineers, to deliver high‑quality, reliable products. A strong focus on performance, efficiency, and code quality is essential, as is a pragmatic approach to problem‑solving in constrained environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop high quality embedded firmware for gas flow metering systems using 32 bit microcontrollers.
  • Design and develop user friendly Windows based support tools used for device configuration, diagnostics, data extraction, firmware updates, and production testing.
  • Interpret and implement requirements from Azure DevOps (ADO) work items into production ready code.
  • Perform bare metal bring up of new hardware platforms, including boot code, drivers, peripherals, and board diagnostics.
  • Optimise firmware for minimal power consumption, including sleep modes, peripheral gating, and efficient scheduling.
  • Collaborate with electronics, mechanical, and test engineers to ensure seamless system integration.
  • Participate in code reviews, design reviews, and continuous improvement of development processes.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and release notes.
  • Support verification, validation, and field testing activities.
  • Undertake any other duties that may arise from time to time.
  • Responsible for the adherence of Landis+Gyr’s End User IT Security policy and Baseline IT Security policy. Report any IT related security incidents as outlined in the appropriate IT Security policy.
