Landau is seeking a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to provide high-quality learning support, mentoring and targeted intervention to individuals and small groups, including learners with disabilities, those who are disadvantaged or disengaged. The role focuses on ensuring every learner participates, achieves and progresses in their programme of study.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare and deliver specified learning activities to individuals and small groups, adapting activities as required under the supervision of a tutor.
  • Assess, record and report on learner development, progress and attainment.
  • Use learning objectives to plan, evaluate and adjust session/work plans within agreed supervision systems.
  • Support learners’ social and emotional wellbeing, reporting concerns to the tutor where appropriate.
  • Work collaboratively with the tutor to identify additional support and intervention needs, tailoring activities and materials to enable learner success.
  • Provide targeted support to individuals to complete tasks, helping them develop knowledge, skills, confidence and independence.
  • Identify barriers to learning and implement appropriate strategies to support learners in overcoming challenges.
  • Support learner portfolios and, where required, lead on assessments, feedback, progress reviews, record-keeping, programme administration and study support.
  • Promote positive behaviour management, applying policies fairly and consistently, and complete accurate records where required.
  • Support learners to achieve their potential, including meeting objectives, completing portfolios and preparing for assessments and personal development goals.
  • Assist with exam preparation and participate in invigilation and supervision.
  • Support work experience arrangements, supervision, progression planning and enrichment activities to ensure course requirements are met.
  • Provide tailored support for learners with special needs or Education, Health and Care Plans, ensuring health, safety and wellbeing in line with company policy and person-centred plans.
  • Act as key worker for identified learners, promoting engagement, attendance, progress and achievement.
  • Provide flexible support across the business as reasonably required, undertaking alternative duties consistent with the role and salary level.
  • The post holder may occasionally undertake other duties not specified but appropriate to the level of the role.

  • Level 4 Teaching Assistant - E
  • Maths and English at level 2 minimum or equivalent – E
  • Degree qualifications or equivalent in a relevant subject – D

Experience

  • At least 2 years’ experience in a similar role - E
  • Experience of supporting learners with SEND – E
  • Experience working with learners who have issues with mental health, low confidence or who are overcoming disadvantages - D
  • Experience planning, preparing or adapting resources to meet learner need – E
  • Experience meeting the requirements of learners with Education, Health and Care Plans – D

Hours & Salary

36.5 hours per week. Salary: £21,298.85–£22,630.02 (£25,200–£26,775 FTE) per annum. Term Time Only working 39 weeks per year; there is also an opportunity for all year.
