We are seeking a Bank Learning Support Assistant to provide high-quality learning support, mentoring and targeted intervention to individuals and small groups, including learners with disabilities, disadvantaged learners and those who are disengaged. The role also supports safeguarding, behaviour management, attendance and basic administration. This is a flexible bank position to cover holidays and sickness as required.

Responsibilities
  • Support and mentor learners (on or off-site) in line with programme requirements and tutor direction.
  • Work with tutors to identify and deliver tailored support and intervention strategies.
  • Provide targeted support to help learners complete tasks and develop knowledge, skills, confidence and independence.
  • Identify barriers to learning and implement appropriate support strategies.
  • Support learner portfolios and, where required, assist with assessments, feedback, reviews, record-keeping and administration.
  • Promote positive behaviour management in line with policies and complete accurate records where required.
  • Contribute to creative approaches to learner engagement and programme development.
  • Provide pastoral support, impartial information, advice and guidance to promote achievement and progression.
  • Support learners to meet learning objectives, complete portfolios and prepare for assessments and personal development goals.
  • Adhere to Safeguarding and Confidentiality policies, maintaining awareness of sensitive learner circumstances.
  • Keep tutors and managers informed of learner progress and liaise with parents and stakeholders where appropriate.
  • Support work experience arrangements, progression planning and enrichment activities.
  • Provide tailored support for learners with SEND or Education, Health and Care Plans in line with company policy and person-centred plans.
  • Act as key worker for identified learners, promoting engagement, attendance and achievement.
  • Monitor learner health, wellbeing and welfare, including safeguarding and EHCP requirements.
  • Provide flexible support across the organisation as required.

  • Contribute to team and departmental meetings.

Person specification
  • Technical competency (qualifications and training): Experience in delivering training/coaching/supporting in an educational setting – Desirable
  • Experience: Supporting learners with SEND (especially in functional skills and employability skills) – Desirable
  • Experience working with learners with anxiety, low confidence or facing disadvantages – Desirable
  • Experience meeting requirements of learners with Education, Health and Care Plans – Desirable
  • Experience planning, preparing or adapting resources to meet learner needs – Desirable
  • Safeguarding and/or First Aid training or willingness to train – Desirable
  • Creative and innovative, able to devise practical approaches to motivate learners – Essential
  • Awareness of the job market and employer needs – Essential
  • Good IT skills and ability to undertake essential administrative or reporting tasks – Essential

Contract Type: Zero Hours – As and when required

Salary: £15.75 – £21 per hour (depending on experience)
