We are seeking a Legal Cashier to assist in our accounts department managing our financial transactions in compliance with the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) Accounts Rules. The role involves handling client and office accounts, processing payments, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting the smooth financial operation of the practice.
Job location: Ulverston and Barrow-in-Furness (with offices also in South Lakes)
Salary: Based on experience
Key Responsibilities- Managing client and office account transactions in accordance with SRA Accounts Rules
- Processing bank transfers, cheques, receipts, and payments
- Posting financial transactions to client and office ledgers
- Performing daily, weekly, and monthly bank reconciliations
- Monitoring client account balances and ensuring compliance
- Processing completion statements and property transaction payments
- Preparing and processing electronic payments including CHAPS and BACS
- Handling supplier invoices and office expenses
- Assisting with billing, credit control, and purchase ledger duties
- Supporting month-end and year-end financial procedures
- Assisting with audits and regulatory compliance checks
- Maintaining confidentiality and accurate financial records
- Liaising with fee earners, clients, banks, and external suppliers
- Previous experience as a Legal Cashier or within legal accounts
- Understanding of SRA Accounts Rules
- Experience using legal accounting software
- Excellent numerical accuracy and attention to detail
- Good organisational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and finance systems
